Mirage - King Davey

That smile always looks deceiving
Like the law of refraction is deeper than your thinking
Beneath the joy something big is building
Rooted so deep, the pain overwhelming

Joyfully gliding and riding through the streets
Deep down in him, he's suffering from defeat
But everyone looks and oh he's so sweet
But he who wears the shoe knows where it does pinch

Tears overflow from the depths of his soul
They choke up and swell up, all locked up within
Tightly trapped in the cage is an unruly foe
Waiting for the day, to break free in him

Why are we so swayed by what we see on the face
Why do we ignore the signs on the way
He puts up a smile but his heart is bound in chains
If only you knew, maybe you could lift the pain

So many battles are being fought in him
But he masquerades, so you won't fear for him
He cleans up his tears before your gaze fall
And he cheers you up, even when he can't crawl

He wished you noticed, cause he needs help too
But most times the chats are all about you
He tries to stop the bleeding that no eyes can see
He's struggling and fighting to get to his feet

Did you really get it?
Why didn't you notice?
I am sure he made it clear
But you just wouldn't hear

That's the way he does
It's his usual playful self
He's always on the buzz
He's that naughty little elf

Open your eyes dear
He's dying slowly there
He's looking strong and tough
Don't be deceived by that stuff

Look deeper than the skin
Look carefully at him
Is that smile from deep within
Or is there more yet to be seen

"Strong smiling and cheerful on the outside may not be the same on the inside. Don't assume. Know"
