Each passing night, the prayer is the same
"LORD, wake me up to see another day"
With hope for the future we lie in wait
Till sleep comes knocking to take us away
But deep within lies a hidden fear
Some so dark, we dare not tell
Deep in our hearts we wish it were gone
But still it looks more real than before
So while we hope for the next day
In our hearts, the night should just stay
Cause the moment the sun rises at dawn
That monster resurfaces asking for more
More of your time
More of your attention
That's all it ever needs to keep you at one spot
But take a real look at that "great" monster
You'd realize it's not as bad as you try to paint her
All she really wants is for you to be better
Of a truth, each one is scared of the future
Some even have nightmares that paint an ugly picture
We are so worried of what tomorrow brings
That we forget the beautiful songs that today still sings
The truth remains, the future is not a Monster
So get up and work with every strength you can muster
Today makes tomorrow, so make use of today
And you'd realize the monster was only really in your head
The future is a plant, and you need to cultivate it
Trim the edges and cut off excesses
The future is bright, only if you believe it
You too can shine, by doing what's necessary
To make the future just as great
Remember to make hail today
The price for the future is dedication
Discipline, hard work and determination
So though, I don't know what the future may hold
I know, it's not a monster, like we were told
And I do have a feeling, it just might be gold
As long as we work hard and remain bold
