The Wait - King Davey
If the cloud was to drop its rain in abundance
The multitude of drops would have little relevance
For the sea of heads that did appear
Was enough to make a cargo ship to tear
Knitted together and close by
Each watched the others eye
For the slightest move met a repercussion
Everyone's goal was a selection
With hope the people did stay on queue
Longing and waiting for their rescue
For he had promised to heed their case
If they would just for a while wait
It sounded good and nice to hear
If only they knew what his heart meant
I'm sure they would have turned deaf ears
If their minds could decode what his mouth had sent
Then the sweat came dripping
A gallon of it is plain modesty
For the release of such was without ceasing
Unlike the Nation's electricity
Hope was the word so they stood still
Like a mannequin, holding the fort with all zeal
If I perish I perish might have been their call
Cause, they stood together, none tilted to fall
The wait was endless, for it was false hope
The people grew tired and could no more cope
Little by little their hot faith turned cold
Till it became stale, weakly and old
This is the story of a forgotten hope
We're staring at nothing as the future is unknown
Time after time a new one will emerge
Reassuring us that even hope is a privilege
